As an activist he serves as the Project Director of the Parkinson Pipeline Project. According to its Web site, the Parkinson Pipeline Project is “a grassroots organization of people with Parkinson’s disease (PD) representing the voice of the PD patient.” One of its missions is to catalyze the development of drug therapies to fight Parkinson’s disease. Dr. Cohen also worked with the FDA to engage Parkinson’s disease patients as patient consultants. (An upcoming blog will describe this program in more detail.)
Dr. Cohen will co-present “The Role of the PLWP and Advocacy Organizations in Clinical Trials” and “The Role of Patients in Development of New Therapies” at the World Parkinson’s Congress. The Congress will occur February 22 to 26, 2006 in Washington DC. Parkinson’s patients are encouraged to attend; and, they have been offered a reduced tuition.
