At the Rock Steady Boxing Gym in Indianapolis, people with Parkinson's train to fight the condition using special workouts to beat back the effects of PD.
This evening ABC World News aired Parkinson's Patients Take up Boxing to Fight Disease. The story reported how dozens of people with Parkinson’s disease have found physical benefits as well as emotional support at the gym.
The Rock Steady Boxing Gym was founded by Scott C. Newman. After being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, he returned to the boxing workouts he knew as a kid. Now more than a year after opening it’s doors, the gym serves more than 25 people with Parkinson's on a regular basis.
If you live in the greater Indianapolis area, we encourage you to try the Rock Steady Boxing Gym. But no matter where you live, and no matter what type of workout you choose, regular exercise can help you manage Parkinson's disease.
