A study completed at the Oregon Health and Science University and Portland Veterans Affairs Medical Center suggests that lowering the caloric intake of early-stage Parkinson’s patients might boost levels of glutamate, a brain neurotransmitter important for motor control and learning.

The data may actually indicate that it is possible to reverse some of the loss motor functioning in Parkinson’s patients.
One of the interesting finding of the study is that dietary restrictions alone seem to have an impact. Add to this the fact that similar studies have concluded that exercise has a positive impact on Parkinson’s patients and a formula for a better life may emerge.
