Giving the Gift of Exercise

by StaffCondition Overview

Spiwack insisted we pass that information on to you before he would even discuss the Theracycle with us. When we asked him why he uses the Theracycle, he responded, "I use it because it's safe and it's easy to use. You just climb on and the Theracycle's motor helps to move all your muscles, as hard or as easy as you want."

He credits the Theracycle workouts for helping him live a better life. "I've had Parkinson's for many years, and I still manage to move around," says Tom. "Using the Theracycle regularly has really helped increase my energy level."

Theracycle is the only motor-driven stationary exercise bike that provides a full body workout. It has a comfortable large seat and back rest, and a unique "Smart Motor" which enables you to exercise in two ways—you can program the motorized bike to help work your muscles, or your muscles can do the work themselves. People who lack the strength to exercise on a traditional fitness bike can gain increased strength, mobility and endurance, plus improve balance and stability, and reduce fatigue and rigidity.

My Parkinson's Info also recently talked with Linda Farbstein of Decatur, Georgia. Her husband, Paul, lives with Parkinson's disease, and has been using the Theracycle for about three years.

"We felt Paul needed more exercise. His mobility was very limited," said Linda. "It really kept his legs from stiffening, and it made his walking a little bit easier. When he used the Theracycle, his balance and stability improved so I didn't worry so much about him falling."

While the physical benefits of exercise were impressive, Linda also noted other benefits.

"It gave him a purpose. We knew that every day for 22 minutes, he would be on the Theracycle and I would read him sports stories while he exercised. It was a good time for togetherness and it really made him feel good," Linda said.

We are impressed with the Farbstein's improved quality of life as a result of Paul's workouts on the Theracycle. Most people who exercise with the Theracycle build strength and endurance, which also frequently translates into increased levels of energy and a more optimistic outlook on life.
