Natural protection against Parkinson's

According to the study, a protein found naturally in the brain may protect against Parkinson's.

The study used an animal model to show that a naturally occurring protein called torsinA can protect dopamine neurons, which are lost in people with Parkinson's, from cell degeneration and death. Researchers hope someday it may be possible through drug therapy or genetic engineering to increase torsinA's activity and therefore provide greater protection against disease.
