As you all know, Parkinson's disease can be debilitating. One of the challenges for people living with PD is staying active. This can be especially difficult if a person with PD was very active prior to the onset of the symptoms. Also, most healthcare providers would suggest that PD patients should stay as active as possible in hopes that activity would improve the overall health of the patient and slow the progression of the disease. Today I found an article (click here) written by Dave Simpkins about Eldon Olson who has PD. Prior to having PD he was a skier and bike rider for most of his life. Eldon found a unique option for staying active. He purchased an EZ-3 trike and then had an electric motor added to the bike so he has the confidence that should his symptoms hit while riding he will be safe and can still return home. For more information about the EZ-3 trike click here.
